The Nakodar sadar police have booked three members of a family on the charge of duping a Nakodar village resident of Rs.35 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
The Investigating officer (IO) Jaswindar Singh said that the accused have been Sukhchain Singh son of Bir Singh a resident of Talwandi Bharo village, his wife Jagbir Kaur, and daughter Lovepreet Kaur.
Amrik Singh a resident of Uggi village complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police that the accused couple solemnised the marriage of their daughter Lovepreet Kaur with his son Varinder Singh in December 2019 and he bearded all expenses to facilitate his daughter-in-law’s migration to Canada but the accused refused to fulfil their promise of migration of his son to Canada and asked for a divorce and threatened to frame him in a false case of dowdy and to marry their daughter with her lover and thus cheated him of Rs 35 Lakhs
IO said that a case under section406 (breach of trust). 420 (cheating) and 34 (committing crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
