The first randomization of counting staff was conducted today under the supervision of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal here at District Administrative Complex, Jalandhar.
Divulging the details, the District Election Officer said that the purpose of randomization is to deploy staff for the counting of votes. He said that randomization of 567 counting staff has been done to complete the work of counting smoothly.
He said that one counting hall has been constructed for each assembly constituency and each hall will have 14 counting tables. Apart from this, all necessary arrangements will be ensured besides deputing separate staff for Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and counting of postal ballots, he added.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal further informed that 20 counting parties (including reserve) have been deployed for each counting center during the first randomisation. A counting party consists of a counting supervisor, counting assistant and a micro observer.
He further informed that the first rehearsal for training the counting staff will be held on May 20.
The District Election Officer said that the district administration is committed to smoothly conducting the counting process, for which counting centers are established at Government Arts and Sports College, State Patwar School, Office of the Director of Land Records, and Government Sports School Hostel. Adequate arrangements for counting of votes will be ensured, he said.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Major Dr. Amit Mahajan, DIO Ranjit Singh, Election Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, etc. were also present.
