JALANDHAR

 The Jalandhar Rural Police have implemented stringent and historic security arrangements to ensure completely peaceful, fair and secure Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections.Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk has issued clear directions to all officers to conducthe elections smoothly and has placed the entire district on high alert. A total of 2500 police personnel have been deployed across the district to maintain law and order during polling. Continuous 24×7 surveillance is being carried out at 880 polling locations and 1126 polling booths. A detailed security plan has been prepared by categorizing 65 locations as hypersensitive, 284 as sensitive, and 531 as non-sensitive. To further strengthen election management, 3 SPs, 12 DSPs and 15 SHOs have been actively deployed on the ground and are supervising their respective units. Two DSP-rank officers have been placed in each subdivision, while one SP-rank officer has been assigned to oversee two subdivisions. Even during the night, Sub-Divisional Police Officers and SHOs are conducting intensive checking across their jurisdictions. Special checking and search operations are being conducted at riverbanks, isolated places, suspicious areas, and markets across the district. Flag marches, anti-sabotage checking, periodic inspection of polling booths, and day-and-night nakabandi are being undertaken continuously. Religious institutions, gurdwaras and deras in Jalandhar Rural have also been placed under the sensitive category, and special security deployment has been ensured at these locations. Police personnel and dedicated patrolling units are monitoring these places continuously to maintain peace and law and order.SSP said that additionally, 30 patrolling parties and ERV teams are active round the clock and remain fully prepared to respond immediately to any emergency. In the past month, the Jalandhar Rural Police have taken major action against illegal liquor and narcotics. A total of 16 Excise Act cases has been registered, reflecting the police’s commitment to strict law enforcement and preventing illegal activities during elections. The public is requested to promptly inform the police about any suspicious activity, dispute, unlawful movement or any violation during the elections.
