NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a Nakodar resident on the charge of raping a girl.
The investigating officer (IO)Janak Raj said that the accused has been identified as Satnam Singh alias Sahota son of Surjit a resident of Mohalla Baghiar Pura, Nakodar.
The victim complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that the accused promised to marry her and establish a physical relationship but refused to fulfil his commitment to marriage.
IO said that a case under sections 376(rape)and 417(punishment for cheating) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and on the order of SSP. No arrest has been made and raids are being conducted to nab him.
