MC commissioner Phagwara directs officers to expedite process of ending outsourcing of Safai Sewaks in MC

Phagwara: Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal today directed the officers of the civic body to expedite the process of ending the outsourcing of safai sewaks (sanitary workers) in the civic body.

Chairing a meeting here at her office today, the Commissioner underscored the need for accomplishing this task in a result oriented and time bound manner. She said that any sort of inordinate delay in this noble task is unwarranted and undesirable. She said that she will be personally monitoring the progress of this work to ensure that the outsourcing of safai sewaks is ended at the earliest.  

She categorically warned the officers that any sort of laxity in this noble cause will not be tolerated at any cost. She further said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed towards the well being of the safai sewaks.  She asked the officers to speed up the work of ending the outsourcing of the safai sewaks so that their services can be hired directly by the civic body in the coming days.

She unequivocally said that the safai sewaks play a major role in making the city clean and green thereby rendering marvelous service to society. She said that Sanitary Workers have always displayed exemplary commitment for work which was unparalleled. She said that the entire society in general and she herself in particular was indebted to 'soldiers of cleanliness' for this noble cause.

She categorically said that the society can never repay the valuable service being rendered by these brave-hearts adding that no stone will be left unturned to ensure the well being of the Safai Sewaks in the city. She envisioned that ending of outsourcing of safai sewaks will act as a catalyst to transform their lives.
