  •  Vigilance awareness week observed at Nawanshahr

Nawanshahr: Addressing the district level function organized at DAN College of Education here today as part of Vigilance Awareness Week activities in the district, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that in order to eliminate bribery, we will have to give up the feeling of doing work by violating one's turn.
He said that corruption starts from here when we try to get our work done quickly by violating our turn in the queue. With this, we open the path of evil for the rest of the people by giving that employee or officer some allurement. He said that the government has fixed days for each service. We should wait for that due date by submitting our documents but most of us create problems for others by taking advantage of more access or money to get their work done faster.
He said that the anti-corruption action helpline 9501200200 launched by the Punjab government to make the state corruption-free has given common people a big weapon to fight against corruption, the results of which are coming out day by day. He said that to create a corruption-free society, we have to start from ourselves so that we don't kill anyone's right through our clout, access or money, and allow every work to be done according to merit. He appealed to the students and government employees and officials participating in the event to contribute to the creation of a corruption-free society, state and the Nation.
Speaking on the importance of Vigilance Awareness Week, SSP Rajeshwar Singh Sidhu, Vigilance Bureau, Jalandhar Range said that awareness is the important tool against the fight against corruption. If we are aware and responsible citizens, then the person sitting in front will not dare to ask us for a bribe in exchange for our work. He said that we have to raise our voice to end bribery. If we remain as mute spectators and tolerate the corrupt activity around us, we will be encouraging it. He said that the corrupt person not only faces social stigma and legal action, but his family also has to pay the punishment of his bad deeds by becoming guilty in the eyes of the society. He said that corruption cannot be eradicated by taking a pledge against bribery only during the vigilance awareness week, but we should always remember this pledge during the rest of the days as well. Addressing the government officials and employees, he said that the corruption-free environment, while giving them a sound sleep, also maintains their good image among the people for a long time. He said that the position should be used in the interests of the people and not to harass them by misusing it. He said that the anti-corruption campaign launched by the Punjab government has yielded very fruitful results, which has created an atmosphere of trust among the people. He also appealed to the anti-corruption action helpline 9501200200 and toll free number 1800 1800 1000 to report the cases of corruption.
