Bhagwant Mann fails to curb rampant spread of drugs in Punjab, Bajwa

  • Everyday Punjab youth is being sucked into the whirlpool of drugs

ChandigarhSenior congress leader & Punjab’s leader of the opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday has taken Bhagwant Mann government to task for his utter failure to control the unbridled spread of drug menace in the state.

“ What happened to your tall promises and claims you & your political master Arvind Kejriwal made to the people of Punjab at the time of assembly polls saying you would put an end to the drug problem in the state once you came to power. Unfortunately you have failed to walk the talk”, Bajwa told Bhagwant Mann.

Everyday people of Punjab were forced to watch disturbing pictures & videos on the mainstream as well as on the social media in which the youth comprising both boys and girls were seen being victims of the drug menace while struggling hard to cope up with the normal life.

“ Even today the media reports how Baldev Singh a 32 year old man and Nishan Singh of 35 year old died in the Valtoha area due to alleged overdose of drugs”.

Bajwa said the Bhagwant Mann government seemed to have no clue how to deal with the drug problem. “ The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government neither has the will nor the policy to save the younger generation from the onslaught of drugs. The youth are being sucked into the quagmire of drugs everyday right before our eyes and Bhagwant Mann is busy campaigning in Gujarat. This is absolutely deplorable”, added Bajwa.

Referring to the observations made by Punjab & Haryana High Court in which Justice Ashok Kumar Verma said drug peddlers have successfully destroyed the social fabric of the society and the youth were being pushed on the wrong path, Bajwa said every word of this observation was absolutely true.

Bajwa also criticized both the civil and police administration for their complete failure to act against the spread of the drugs.
