MOHALI: Diwali is being celebrated in the country on Monday. People are wishing each other Happy Diwali. Diwali is also known as the festival of lights. That's why people clean their homes and light diyas on the this occasion.

 

In Mohali, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife stopped their vehicle and bought lamps from roadside artisans selling earthen lamps and also interacted with the people present there. On the occasion of buying lamps, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife interacted with the artisans selling earthen lamps and also got to know about their condition. Instead of lighting firecrackers and earthen diyas instead of lights, celebrate Green Diwali. So that the poor making earthen lamps can sell their lamps and they too can celebrate a good Diwali. Not only this, they will not cause any harm to the environment.

Earlier, CM Mann greeted people on Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas, with an appeal to protect the environment through green and buy diyas made earthen pots to help the village poor prosper.

 

The CM extended warm greeting to the people, especially the Sikhs, on the historic Bandi Chhor Diwas, to mark the release from prison of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, and 52 other princes with him, in 1619.
