The Shahkot police have booked a villager on the charges of breach of trust and cheating.
The Investigating officer (IO) Nirmal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Manprit Singh alias Mandip Singh a resident of Varraich village and presently living in Kaniawali Garha, Jalandhar.
Nirmal Singh a resident of Talwandi Madho village n complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police that the accused promised him to secure recruitment for his daughter in the Punjab police and cheated him of Rs 1.10 Lakh.
IO said a case under section 406(breach of trust) and 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused. No arrest has been made and further investigation is on.
