- Asks Mann to drop Sarari from cabinet and order a free and fair probe
Chandigarh: Senior Congress Leader & Punjab’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday has cautioned chief minister Bhagwant Mann and said no amount of effort by him to save the skin of his corrupt cabinet minister Fauja Singh Sarari would work till the latter was dropped from the council of ministers.
Bajwa who led the statewide protests of the congress party and held agitations and demonstrations all across Punjab including at martyr Bhagat Singh ‘s ancestral village Khattkar Kalan said Bhagwant Mann has no option but to sack corrupt Sarari from his cabinet.
“ Mann is now deliberately trying to deflect the issue saying the audio clip in which Sarari was heard fixing a deal with his OSD Tarsem Lal Kapoor to extort money from officials is insignificant and does not prove corruption beyond a doubt of his minister. This is not only a white lie but also shows how Bhagwant Mann is changing colours even faster than a chameleon”, said Bajwa.
Bhagwant must not forget when he dropped his health minister Dr. Vijay Singla at that time had claimed in a video message that the latter was seeking one percent commission from the contracts. “ At that time Bhagwant Mann had taken a high moral ground that though the alleged audio clip was not in the knowledge of anyone especially the media and the opposition parties still he took strong action against his own cabinet minister only to set an example of zero tolerance against corruption”, said Bajwa.
However in Sarari’s case Bhagwant Mann was taking a completely different stance. “ In fact, the Sarari case has completely exposed the double standards of the Bhagwant Mann government. But we will not let the issue die down easily till Bhagwant Mann drops Sarari from his cabinet and orders a free and fair probe”, added Bajwa.
