Defamation case: CM Bhagwant Mann appears in Mansa court

MANSA: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appeared in Mansa court on Thursday. Security has been tightened in the entire city. In fact, Nazar Singh Manshahia, a former MLA from Mansa, had filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, for which he is appearing in the courtroom today. Punjab Police was deployed in Mansa city before Mann appeared in the Mansa court.

 

During the court's appearance on 29 April 2022, orders were issued to Bhagwant Mann to appear personally in the court on 21 July 2022. But Bhagwant Mann did not appear. After this, the court again issued an order to appear on 20 September. On this, Nazar Singh Manshahia had said that if Bhagwant Mann does not appear in the upcoming production, he will demand the court to issue a non-bailable warrant.

 

In 2019, Nazar Singh Manshahia had filed a case against Bhagwant Mann.

Let us inform that in the year 2019, Nazar Singh Manshahia had filed a case against Bhagwant Mann. In fact, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nazar Singh Manshahiyan left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Congress. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused Nazar Manshahia of changing the party for Rs 10 crore and the post of Punjab Pollution Board chairman. After that, Nazar Singh Manshahia filed a defamation suit against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

When Manshahia challenged Mann to either prove the allegations or apologise, he got no response. Acting on his complaint, a case was registered under Sections 500 (defamation), 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 66E, 67 of the Information Technology Act in a Mansa court on July 30, 2019.
