Ludhiana village resident among five booked for murder by burning four members of a family

 

NAKODAR

The Mehat Pur police have booked five persons including a Ludhiana villager on the charge of murdering by burning four members of a family.

 

Mehat Pur Station House Officer (SHO) Balraj Singh said that the accused have been identified as Kuldip Singh alias Kali son of Jogindar Singh a resident of Khurshaid Pur village under Sidham Bet police station Ludhiana and his four unidentified accomplices.

SHO said the deceased have been identified as Paramjit Kaur wife of the accused, her son Anmol, father Surjan Singh, and her mother Jogindaro Bai resident of Beetlan village.

Lakhwindar Singh son of Eshar Singh a resident of Beetlan village complained to the police that his niece was married to the accused after the death of her husband and had two children but the accused was a drug addict and used to beat his wife and stepchildren often.

He said in his statement that Paramjit Kaur left his husband's house and came to her parents’ house.

Lakhwindar Singh said that the accused visited Beetlan village in an inebriated condition and threatened to kill all of them if Paramjit Kaur do not accompany him.

He told the police that on October 18 at around 2.20 AM his dog started barking and he came outside and saw some unidentified person standing there in front of his brother Surjan Singh and accused Kali was holding a spray pump on his back and others were armed with weapons.

Lakhwindar Singh said that he heard crying from a room of his brother where all were sleeping, and fire flames were seen from the window the accused locked his room from outside and uttered that he has performed his act and that if anybody can save him, he should do it and fled away.

He said that he cried for help and opened the room of his brother Surjan Singh and saw all burning in fire adding that his niece Param Jit Kaur told him that the accused sprayed oil at them and set them afire.

Lakhwindar Singh said that his sister in law Jogindar Kaur and Anmol son of Paramjit died on that spot and his brother Surjan Singh , niece, and her daughter were rushed to Nakodar civil hospital from where they were referred to Jalandhar civil hospital where his brother and niece succumbed to injuries and Arshdeep  Kaur is fighting for life.

 

SHO said a case under sections 302(murder) 307 (attempt to murder) 436 (mischief by fire ) 506(criminal intimidation ) 120-B(criminal conspiracy ) 427 (mischief ) and 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations and on.
