ADC Phagwara inspects quality of food served under mid day meal in government schools

Phagwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal today said that any compromise in quality of food served to the students under Mid Day Meal scheme in the government schools is totally unwarranted and undesirable.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, who checked the quality of food by having it during inspection in Government Primary School at Prempura, underlined the need for hygienically cooked food with full nutrient value to the students under the Mid Day Meal Scheme. She said that proper implementation of this scheme along with ensuring proper quality and quantity of the food served to the students is the top priority of the Phagwara administration. She also reviewed position of food grains received, utilized and balances lying in stock of the school.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner also had the food to check the quality of meal served to the students under the scheme. She also visited the kitchens and place of where the food was cooked and served to the students. She also minutely checked the utensils in which the food for children was prepared. 

She also had detailed interaction with the staff preparing the food and asked them to be extra vigilant so that the food was cooked and served in a hygienic environment to the students. She further said that it must be ensured that the nutritional value of the food must be preserved at every cost. She said that the students must be served seasonal vegetable and pulses in the meal daily. “It is the moral responsibility of school management to serve hygienic meal to the students under this scheme and any sort of laxity in this noble cause will not be tolerated” she added.
