The Shahkot police have arrested Sohan Singh a resident of Mand Sandhawal village for illegal sand mining.
Junior engine cum mining officer Nakodar /Shahkot complained to the police that the accused was intercepted at a Naka near Nangal Ambian village who was carrying a tractor trolly loaded with sand but could not produce any document and thus violated the orders of the Punjab and Haryana high court by indulging in the illegal quarrying of sand in the area.
The investigating officer Balbir Chand said that a case under Section379 (theft),411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC, and section 21 of the Punjab Mining and Minerals Act has been registered against the accused who was released on bail.
