Two persons were killed in an accident caused by paddy straw burning.
The station House Officer (SHO) Gurindar Jit Singh Nagra said that the deceased have been identified as Hardev Singh (58) son of Gurdip Singh a resident of Nimaji Pur village and Gurtej Singh son of Surindar Singh a resident of Hairan village. SHO said that Hardev Singh was coming to Shahkot on his scooter and Gurtej Singh was returning home from tuition at Malsian village.
SHO said that both two-wheelers collided with each other near Mir Pur Saidin village and died on the spot adding that the accident was caused due to poor visibility as the fog has engulfed the area after some farmers burnt their harvested paddy straw fields.
Nagra said bodies were sent for postmortem and further action would be taken on statements of family members of the deceased.
