The Nakodar sadar police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing cash and jewellery from a house.
Dalvindaer Singh a resident of Shidham Station Wale village complained to the police that thieves barged into his house on October 12 and stole Rs 1 Lakh, golden and silver jewellery.
The investigating officer Som Nath said that a case under sections 457 (housebreaking by night to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unidentified accused.
Incidents of thefts in rural areas have created a sense of insecurity among residents and put a question mark on the police patrolling and functioning.
The city police also booked unidentified persons for stealing an AC compressor and a generator battery from roof top of HDFC bank branch on a statement of manager, said I.O. Mangat Gupta.
