Swachh Vidyala Awards 2021-22: Govt. Elementary School Sheikhupur bags top place in Urban category

  • Emerges victorious amongst 28000 govt and private schools of  Punjab


Kapurthala: Government Elementary School Sheikhupur of Kapurthala  today bagged the top place with 98 % score  under Swachh Vidyala Puraskar 2021-22 by showing excellent performance in “Urban Category”.

A total of 28,000 Government and private sector schools participated in the surveys conducted by the Education Department of the Punjab under various categories, including water management, hand washing, arrangements made for children during Covid-19 and operation and maintenance. 

The rating of Schools were made on the basis of above parameters in which 26 schools across the state were awarded in 5 categories. 

Under this rating, in the urban category, Government Elementary School Sheikhupur, in which more than 300 children have been studying has secured the first position in the urban category. 

Centre head teacher Jaimal Singh who received a state-level award from the education minister of Punjab Harjot singh Bains recently said that it was a result of district administration guidance and efforts of old students , NRIs etc. 

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal congratulated the school management, teachers and students on this achievement of the district school and said that Government Elementary School Sheikhupur has proved that government schools are working at par with private sector.

He said that this achievement of the school was a beacon of light for other schools, from which they should also take inspiration and do something better.

It is to be mentioned that 26 schools received  awards under the Swachh Vidyala Award 2021-22. 

In kapurthala district , Government Elementary School Sheikhupur won the first place in the urban category whereas Government Senior Secondary School Bhawanipur also won the second place in the category of rural secondary schools.
