Procurement Operations:  As many as 42840 MT of Paddy Procured  in Nawanshahr Mandis

  • Payments worth Rs 79 Crore Made against Procured Paddy So far


NawanshahrDistrict Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Mandis have recorded an arrival of 43240 MT by previous day and out of it, 42840 MT of Paddy has been procured by the agencies, said Deputy Commissioner NPS Randhawa on Wednesday  here.


Terming the procurement operations smooth and hassle free, Randhawa further said that a total of 30 purchase centers have been set up in the district to ensure timely purchase of  Paddy. He said that out of the procured paddy, 11286 MT of produce have already been lifted and agencies have been asked to expedite the lifting to avoid glut in the grain markets.


He said that an amount of Rs 79 Crore has been transferred to the accounts of 3500 farmers which is 110 percent as per the condition of 48 hours.
Reiterating commitment of the district administration and procurement agencies to procure every single grain of paddy, he said that all the officers and employees of the Food agencies and Mandi Board have been placed in the Mandis to ensure minimum inconvenience to the farmers.


He said that the district had allocated five procurement agencies including Pungrain, Markfed, Pusnsup, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and FCI. Giving agency wise details, he added that Pungrain has purchased a major share as 15618 MT while Punsup 12660 MT. Similarly, Markfed has purchased 11072 MT while Punjab Warehouse 3001 MT, FCI 347 and Private Traders 142 MT.


Making an appeal to the farmers for not burning the stubble and crop residue, DC Randhawa advised them to use mechanical equipment to dispose of the stubble and crop residue and save the environment from getting smoldered and polluted.
