Jalandhar: The country's internationally renowned and prestigious 39th Surjeet Hockey Tournament will be played under floodlights.
Giving information, Surjit Hockey Society's working president Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira said that the five member core group of the society along with General Secretary Surinder Singh Bhapa, Honorary Secretary Ranbir Singh Tut, Joint Secretary Ramnik Singh Randhawa and CEO. Iqbal Singh Sandhu met Sports Minister Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayre and invited him as the chief guest for the final match of the tournament. Sports Minister was also apprised about the faulty flood lights where the Surjit Hockey Tournament starting from 27th October.
Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister Meet Hayre said that Surjit Hockey Society has an important contribution in the progress of hockey and Surjit Hockey Tournament organized by the Society is an internationally famous and prestigious tournament of Punjab. The government is committed to providing all kinds of facilities to the players.
He assured the delegation of the society that before the start of the Surjit Hockey tournament, the all faulty flood lights of the stadium will be replaced. The Sports Minister has also assured that the other problems of the stadium will be resolved soon at the level of the Principal Secretary (Sports), Punjab. Today Surjit Hockey Society held a special meeting and passed a resolution of thanks to the Sports Minister, Punjab Meet Hayre for the prompt resolving of sports problems, along with a resolution to extend all kind of cooperation to the government in sports on behalf of the society.
