The Bilga police have arrested Gurpreet Singh a resident of Phul Pur colony, Jalandhar, and Balvir Singh a resident of Banking Enclave, Jalandhar on the charges of illegal sand mining.
Mining inspector Bist Doad division Jalandhar Amarjit Singh complained to the police that the accused were carrying sand in three tractor trollies but could not produce any documents.
The investigating officer Rajindar Singh said a case under section 379(theft) of the IPC and section 21of the Punjab mining act has been registered against the accused and their three tractor trollies loaded with sand have been impounded and there their accomplice managed to flee.
