  • Olympian Varinder Singh's family honored by Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women Jalandhar


Jalandhar: In memory of Olympian Varinder Singh, a member of the 1975 World Cup winning Indian hockey team, who passed away on June 28, 2022, the hockey players of Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women jalandhar recited Sri Sukhmani Sahib at the college ground. College hockey players were present on this occasion, college principal Dr. Navjot Kaur, college superintendent Amarjit Singh, professor Maninder Kaur, member of Hockey Punjab Kulbir Singh and head of sports department of college Parminder Kaur also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, Manjit Kaur, wife of Olympian Varinder Singh, son Gurpreet Kaur, daughter-in-law Kuldeep Kaur were also specially present. On this occasion, the family of Olympian Varinder Singh was specially honored by the college considering his contribution to the game of hockey. On this occasion, the principal of the college, Dr. Navjot Kaur, said that with the departure of Olympian Varinder Singh, Punjab's hockey has suffered a big loss, at the same time college hockey has also suffered a big loss which cannot be fulfilled. He said that Varinder Singh taught hockey tricks to college players for the last 7 years, as a result of which Olympian Gurjit Kaur became a part of the Indian women's hockey team.
