The Lohian Khas police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing cash and jewellery from a house.
Charanjit Kaur wife of Major Singh a resident of Gatta Mundi Kasu village complained to the police that thieves barged into her house on October 5 night and stole Rs 8.80 Lakhs and 120 grams golden jewellery as she was admitted in a Jalandhar clinic .
The investigating officer Jaspal Singh said that a case under section 380(theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unidentified accused.
Incidents of thefts in rural areas have created a sense of insecurity among residents and put a question mark on the police patrolling and functioning.
