The Department of Agriculture has informed the sarpanches about not burning straw

Barnala: Under the leadership of Block Agriculture Officer, Mahal Kalan Dr Jarnail Singh, all Sarpanches, and Panchayat Secretaries of Block Mahal Kalan were sensitized about stubble management at the BDPO office Mahal Kalan by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Block Mahal Kalan. On this occasion, Dr Jasmin Sidhu, Agriculture Development Officer, Mahal Kalan, while speaking said that while we are polluting the environment by burning crop residues, we are also killing the fertility of the earth and friendly insects. He said that the paddy stubble should be ploughed in the field itself and wheat should be sown with new technologies (Hepsieder, Superseeder etc.) so that a clean environment can be provided for the upcoming species.

He shared his views regarding the cultivation of rhubarb crops and said that the farmers' expenditure on fertilizer will also be saved on the rhubarb crop planted with this method. 

He shared his views regarding the cultivation of wheat crops and said that the farmers' expenditure on fertilizer will also be saved on the wheat crop planted with this method. If the farmer cultivates the stubble produced from one acre in his field, then the cost of the farmer will be reduced by 4000 to 5000 per acre.

 

On this occasion, Dr Jarnail Singh said that all the Sarpanchs should take the initiative not to set fire to stubble by making maximum use of machinery in their respective villages. If we start efforts to prevent fire from the village level, only our entire Punjab will be pollution free. He appealed to the farmers that the varieties and medicines recommended by the university should be properly applied so that the farming expenses of the farmers can be reduced. Gurmail Singh, SHO Thana Thuliwal, who was present on the occasion, informed the farmers and sarpanches that we need to leave our selfishness and take joint steps regarding the cleanliness of the environment. Apart from them Balor Singh Sarpanch Mahal Kalan, Mr Gurmeet Kaur Sarpanch Wajidke Kalan, Mrs Sukhjinderpal Kaur Sarpanch Gagewal, Gurpreet Singh Sarpanch Raisar Patiala, Palwinder Singh Sarpanch Kalal-Majra etc. Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary were present.
