NAKODAR
The Nakodar city police have booked and arrested a woman accused on the charge of attempt to escape from police custody.
The investigating officer (IO) Kulwindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Manpreet Kaur daughter of Jaswindar Singh alias Jaswindar Kumar a resident of Sharak Pur village.
Nakodar city head munshi Gagan Deep Singh said in his statement that the accused was arrested and was on police remand in a case registered against her in 2021 on the charges of extortion and criminal conspiracy and tried to escape from police custody on a pretext of going to a bathroom and was arrested on the spot.
IO said that a case under section 224 (obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
