- Sets target to purchase 8 lakh MT by government agencies
Kapurthala: District administration Today made adequate arrangements for the smooth procurement of paddy from October 1st in the district .
Deputy commissioner Kapurthala Vishesh sarangal said that 8 lakh MT procurement target has been fixed by the government agencies in the season.
He also said that besides 42 permanent grain markets 21 Temporary mandis have also been established to facilitate the farmers . It may be mentioned here that the officials procurement price was Rs . 2060 Per quintal in this season against the Rs. 1960 last year .
Deputy Commissioner also informed that the allocation of markets to various government procurement agencies PUNSAP, Warehouse, Markfed, FCI has been done and every grain of farmers' crops would be purchased.
He asked the Food and Supply Department to ensure payment of the purchased paddy to the farmers within 48 hours.
Urging the farmers not to harvest the crop during night , Deputy commissioner said that the farmers must bring dry paddy to the markets so that their crop can be purchased without any delay. It may also be mentioned here that the harvesting of paddy with combines has been banned from 7 PM to 7 AM.
