Nawanshahr: Continuing its award winning spree spirit recently, two Shaheed Bhagat Singh District Villages also bagged awards, one under 'My Village, My Responsibility' campaign while another under 'ODF Plus Film Competition'.
Divulging details, deputy commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that the award would be given at State Level Swachh Bharat Diwas to be observed at Hoshiarpur on October 2, 2022. He said that Bharta Kalan bagged Rs One Lakh cash Prize under 'My Village, My Responsibility' Campaign by presenting a successful model of Waste Management while Mahal Khurd has qualified for 'ODF Plus Film Competition' by claiming prize money of Rs 10,000.
Adding further, he said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, earlier qualified for 'Har Ghar Jal' tag and its local body Nawanshahr for Azadi@75 Swachhta Survekdhan 2022. Both awards would be given at New Delhi on October 2 and 1 respectively.
Congratulating the concerned departments, Village Panchayats and local body, Randhawa said that the award winning institutions/villages have set an example for the other departments too to perform better to get awarded next time.
It's worthwhile to mention that SBS Nagar was also adjudged second best district of the North Region during 3rd National Water Awards presented in March 2022.
