Barnala: 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians Front Punjab (Government College) once again protested in front of the residence of Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare to restore their recruitment process. A large number of candidates selected in 1158 recruitments from all parts of Punjab participated in this state-level action on Sunday, September 25 under the slogan 'Pher Barnala Chalo'. Convenor of the front Dr Sohail stated to the press and said that during the protest held at Barnala on September 19, lathi charges on the front, mistreatment of women, illegal arrest at the police stations till midnight and so much more Despite what happened, the shameful silence of the government is condemned.

At the same time, behind this protest, there is a demand from the government to cancel the advertisement for the recruitment of 1158 assistant professors and librarians by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and to hold a panel meeting with the Chief Minister and the Minister of Higher Education regarding the situation after the written decision. In Higher Education Secretary, Additional DPI and the Advocate General of Punjab should also join.

A case should be fought on a double bench by filing an LPA in the High Court against the government's decision to cancel the recruitment by announcing it in the regular press. Security of employment of assistant professors who have been appointed in colleges should be guaranteed under this recruitment process. For the candidates who have received the appointment letters and whose selection lists have not come, to make a permanent arrangement for their employment, this recruitment should be initiated by proceeding sincerely in the High Court.

Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta) Dakonda Vice President Manjit Dhaner termed the entire performance of the Barnala Police as shameful. He said that the land of Barnala is the land of people riots and the lathi charge on this land is beyond tolerance. He said that the land of Barnala is the land of people riots and the lathi charge on this land is beyond tolerance.

State committee member of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta) Ugrahan, Roop Singh China, said that the government should sit in regular meetings with the educated class of Punjab and discuss their issues and not rain dangs to suppress their voice. State President of Unemployed Tet Pass Teachers Front Sukhwinder Dhillwan said that the barbaric lathicharge at Barnala has exposed the anti-education and anti-employment face of the AAP government. Along with this, the district president of BKU Ugrahan Chamkaur Singh Nainewal and the state committee members of the Democratic Teachers Front gave speeches in favour of 1158 assistant professors and librarians.

Convener Karamjit Singh said that the recruitment process of 1158 has been exposed to the narrow politics of the previous and present governments.  Neither the previous nor the current government paid attention to the serious issue of higher education in Punjab.

The clear proof of this is the written decision of the High Court, which states that this recruitment was not conducted sincerely in the court and the future of 1158 eligible candidates has been exposed to petty politics. Due to this, 1158 eligible candidates are suffering at different levels. Expressing his protest, he said that this recruitment was supposed to burn the hearths of 1158 houses, to revive dying government colleges, but on the contrary, more than 600 eligible candidates have lost their jobs and fellowships. 150 candidates who have joined the colleges have again come under the spell of unemployment.

Convener Jagmeet Singh said that it is not just a matter of recruiting 1158 professors but it is a matter of saving the government colleges and higher education system of Punjab. Due to the non-recruitment of professors in government colleges of Punjab for the last 25 years, the number of regular professors in these colleges is nominal. Most of these professors will retire in the coming years. If this recruitment does not come to an end, there is a fear of closure of government colleges, with which cheap and quality education will be out of reach of the working class of Punjab. With the completion of this recruitment, Punjab's higher education and government colleges will be saved.

Stage Secretary Yodha Singh called upon all the organizations BKU (Ekta) Ugrahan, BKU (Ekta) Dakounda, Revolutionary Center Punjab, Jamhoori Adhikar Sabha, Democratic Teachers to strongly support and participate in today's protest after the baton charge of September 19.
