Chandigarh University protest over leaked videos of Hostel Mates Bathing, eight girl students attempted suicide, Minister urges calm, “guilty won’t be spared

CHANDIGARH: In the audio sent to the media by some students of the university, it can be heard saying that a hostel student made a video of other girl students taking a bath and made it viral.

 

Earlier it was believed that this video is of 4 girls but in the viral audio a student says that there are many videos of girls in it and no strict action is being taken by the university administration. 

In some of the pictures going viral, the police are also trying to convince the students who are creating ruckus by talking to them.

Videos of students protesting by raising slogans in the campus are also coming out. At first the university management tried to solve the matter itself, but seeing the situation getting out of control, the police were called.

According to police sources, a case has been registered against the girl in Kharar police station for making MMS viral. The girl is being interrogated by taking her into custody and there is talk of her arrest soon.

The students calmed down after the FIR was registered in this matter. The university has closed the campus gates and the media is not allowed inside.

After videos of 60 girls bathing were leaked on the internet, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has tweeted and appealed to the students to maintain peace and said that no guilty will be spared. He said that this matter is very sensitive and is related to the respect of mothers and sisters, all of us including the media need to be alert.

Urging students to remain clam and media to exercise caution, the minister said the issue is sensitive and relates to the dignity of “our sisters and daughter”.

 

"I humbly request all the students of Chandigarh University to remain calm, no one guilty will be spared," the minister tweeted. "We all including media should be very very cautious,it is also test of ours now as a society," he added.
