Honours 15 engineers on national engineers day

Chandigarh: Fulfilling another commitment, the Punjab Government has provided facility of clean and safe water supply to all rural houses in 10 districts across state by securing place in leading states under ‘Har Ghar Jal’ mission.

Stating this here today, Punjab Water Supply & Sanitation Minister Brahm Shanker Jimpa congratulated all the engineers, officers of department as well as the team members for this commendable job. The Minister mentioned that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann the State Government was fully committed to ensure all basic amenities with requisite quality.

The Minister was addressing the function at held at MGSIPA to mark 55th National Engineering Day. He pointed out that the vital role and immense contribution of engineers in overall development of states is highly laudable, which can never be overlooked. He expressed gratitude to the engineers of the Water Supply & Sanitation Department for a big achievement paving a way to provide clean & safe water in all rural houses in districts namely Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Malerkotla, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Pathankot and SAS Nagar. More than 11.55 lakh rural houses have been linked with the piped clean and safe water supply in the said districts, he added.

Appreciating the pivotal role played by the engineers in the field of innovation across the globe, which makes the life of people more smooth, the Minister said that this fraternity always a front runner to achieve the different tasks. He also gave a call to Engineers to further contribute to keep the natural resources i.e. water, air and earth clean, green and pollution free.

Jimpa also honoured 15 Engineers for their outstanding performance. These engineers included Vikram Singh, Prabhjodh Singh, Sandeep Bawa, Paras Malhotra, Satpal, Honey Gupta, Sarbjeet Singh, Paramvir Singh, Vinod Kumar, Ritesh Garg, Puneet Bhasin, Michael, Kewal Garg, Puneet Garg and Kartik Jindal.

Principal Secretary D.K. Tiwari, Department Head Vipul Ujjwal and Chief Engineer (North) Kuldeep Singh Saini also addressed the gathering. On this occasion world renowned water expert Dr. Engineer Thomas Grischek (Germany) and Dr. Dipankar Saha (Central Ground Water Board) were the special guests. Engineers of department from across Punjab, Chief Engineer (South) Engineer J.J. Goyal, Chief Engineer (Central) Engineer R. K. Khosla, Engineer HPS Saini and Engineer K.S. Bihla were also present.
