In Kapurthala district , as the procurement goes smoothly , payment is being made to the farmers against the purchase of wheat before the stipulated time limit of 48 hours, as Rs. 461.77 crore have been sent to the farmers' accounts till yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner Mr.Vishesh Sarangal said that the procurement of wheat in 42 mandis in district is going smoothly.
It may be mentioned here that as per the norms , the farmer has to pay against the procured wheat within 48 hours, which becomes Rs. 427.39 crore , while Rs. 461.77 crore have been paid to the farmers, which counts 108% of the payment.
Apart from the this , SDMs of Kapurthala, Phagwara, Sultanpur, Bhulath Sub divisions , Mandi Board , food and civil supply departments and officials of various procurement agencies visits various grain markets daily to ensure the farmers would be able to sell their crop in a hassle free manner .
Deputy commissioner also said that the district would also be able to met the procurement target during the ongoing season .
The procurement target has been set more than 3 lakh MT , out of which 265445 MT of wheat have been purchased which becomes 84.17 % of the fixed target.
Mr. sarangal also said that more than 25 thousand MT wheat is arriving daily in Mandi’s .
PUNGRAIN leads in procurement with 69593 MT (26 %) of wheat followed with 61556 MT( 23%) by PSWC, 60951 MT (23 %) by Markfed and 60925 MT (23 %) by PUNSUP. Apart from this, 1823 MT have been purchased by FCI .
He reiterated the commitment that each and every grain of farmers' crops would be purchased so that the farmers get their due rights for their crop.
