Delhi deputy chief minsiter and minister for education Manish Sisodia on Tuesday resigned from the cabinet along with Saytender Jain, according to the news agency ANI.

Manish Sisodia was deputy chief minsiter and the education minister in the Kejriwal led Delhi government, who made the headlines for bringing a revolution in the field of education in Delhi Schools  and alleged involvement of the questionable excise police of the Delhi government, when he held the excise portfolio.

Sisodia was arrested on Sunday by the CBI in an ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities in the excise policy of the Delhi government.

The Supreme court on Tuesday refused to entertain Sisodia’s plea challenging his arrest in connection with the excise policy case.

The Supreme court had directed Sisodia to move Delhi high court.

Sisodia resigned from cabinet two days after his arrest, but Satyender Jain did not despite being in jail.

Jain is currently in jail in connection with other cases related to money laundering registered by the ED(Enforcement Directorate) in May last year.

Jain was allegedly arrested because of his involvement in money laundering and Hawala case.

Now the resignations of both the ministers will be forwarded to the L-G,SK Saxena for his approval.

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in a tweet has said,”There is no justification of the CBI to arrest Manish Sisodiya in liquor investigation.

The issue is serious and should be properly investigated, but that is no reason for arresting him. There is also no justification to deny him bail on the ground of custodial interrogation.
