The Shahkot police have booked five persons on the charge of assaulting a Mehet Pur resident and damaging his vehicle.
The investigating officer (IO) and Talwandi Sanghera police post in-charge Atamjit Singh said that the accused have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Happy,Dalbir Singh alias Sunni,Jagtar Singh alias Kaka ,Mukhtiar Singh, and Lembar Singh all residents of Sadik Pur village.
Kashmiri Lal a resident of Salema village under Mehat Pur police station complained to the police that he was returning home after dropping his relatives at Sadik Pur village when the accused waylaid him and assaulted him and his colleague damaged his SUV stole his smartphone and documents from it.
IO said a case under sections 323(voluntarily causing hurt ),341(wrongful restraint) 427(mischief) 379(theft) 506(criminal intimidation ), and 148 and 149(rioting ) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. No arrested have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
