Phagwara: In order to ensure that sanitary workers are able to discharge their duty ably in upcoming foggy weather conditions, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal on Friday distributed 300 florescent jackets to the workers.
The Commissioner said that these ‘soldiers of cleanliness’ put their life in peril while smooth discharge of their duty in winter season especially during fog. She said that to ensure safety of their lives these jackets have been provided as these are visible even in dark and foggy conditions. She said that safety of the staff was on top priority of the civic body.
The Commissioner also lauded the efforts being put by these workers to perform their duty zealously. She said that these safai sewaks render marvellous service to humanity by cleaning the city. She said that there unflinching commitment towards society and its people help in making city clean, green and pollution free.
She expressed hope that these jackets will further help in smooth discharge of duty by safai sewaks. She said that these Sanitary Workers have always displayed exemplary commitment for work which was unparalleled. Dr. Nayan said that the entire society in general and she himself in particular was indebted to 'these safai sewaks for this noble cause.
