Nurmahal councillors requisite NC meeting for removing president, vice president

Several councillors  of Nurmahal Nagar council have signed two requisition letters for Nagar Council (NC) meeting to bring a no-confidence motion against the president and vice president.

Phillaur subdivision magistrate (SDM) in an official communication to Nurmahal Nagar Council executive officer (EO) said that his office has received two representations signed by existing councilors in his office to bring a no-confidence motion against president Hardip Kaur Johal and the vice president.

SDM said in his communication that these requestions letters are sent to you to act under Municipal Act 1911 and according to government directions.

Jalandhar deputy commissioner has forwarded two requisition letters sent to him by Nurmahal council members to SDM.

EO Rajiv Oberoi said that he has sent these letters to the president who is bound by law to call a meeting of the house within

Congress leader and ward no.10 councilor Hardip Kaur Johal was elected Nurmahal Nagar council president in May 2021 by toss and her party colleague and ward no,5 councilor Jang Bahadar Kohli was elected vice president also by toss.

The Congress has six members, Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD)  three,  Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) 1, Bahujan Samaj Party  2, and Independent 1 in the house of thirteen. President's post is reserved for women in Nurmahal.    

Two councilors of the Bahujan Samaj Party Kanwal Kumari ward no.9 and Walaiti Ram ward no13 had announced their boycott and left the venue.

 

Congress candidates and opposition candidates received equal votes (6-6) with the then Nakodar MLA G.S Wadala casting his vote and after this election was held by toss.
