NAKODAR

The Nakodar city police have booked a gangster on the charges of extortion and criminal intimidation.

The investigating officer (IO) Paramjit Singh said that the accused has been identified as gangster Inda.

The victim complained to the police that the accused made a WhatsApp call  to him on November 1 morning and introduced himself as a notorious gangster saying that he knows each this about him and demanded Rs 30 lakhs as ransom and threatened him with dire consequences if demanded money is not paid to him in time.

IO said that a case under sections 387(Putting or attempting to put a person in fear of death or grievous hurt to commit extortion) and 506(criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.

It may be mentioned here that the Nakodar city station house officer censored this news himself and requested Nakodar reporters that keeping in mind the grievousness of the matter and the security of the complainant this news should not be published and did  not share details of the FIR. He even used his influence in the SSP officer to pressurize reporters.

But most reporters disagreed with the logic of SHO and approached SSP (R) Swarandeep Singh who rejected the arguments of Nakodar city SHO and asked them to report this news.
