Seechewal clears Asia’s important Kanjli wet land of hyacinth to save the aquatic life after 9 days continuous drive

Kapurthala; Renowned Environmentalist Padamshree  Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal AAP  Rajya Sabha member  today cleared Asia important 15 kilometre long kanjli  wet land from five to six feet high hyacinth and underwater vegetation after a continuous drive of 9 days  to save  the aquatic lives mostly fish which were dying due to suffocation.

Seechewal himself drove the JCB machine and removed the hyacinth and slush from the sacred bein rivulet passing through this wet land  with the help of his followers.

The members of  local NGO Guru Nanak sacred bein restoration committee had approached the Seechewal a month ago to save the wet land and its aquatic life which attracted the Siberian migratory birds who flew five to six thousand kilomters to this wet  every year.

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal , prominent industrialists , media persons , local political leaders and saints of Kapurthala and Sultanpurlodhi besides residents of kapurthala also  joined hands with Seechewal in this noble cause as foul odour  of dead fishes  emanating    at kanjali picnic spot has created a havoc and the spot was not attracting tourists for the past few months.

Sant Seechewal told media persons today  that  four villages of Hoshiarpur district and two villages of kapurthala areas were only left whose dirty water was still flowing in the rivulet and the work to stop the dirty was going on and expected to be completed soon.

It is worth mentioning here that  160 kilometre long holy bein which passes through kanjli wet land has been  attached to the early life Guru Nanak Dev who used to take daily bathe in the rivulet during his 14 years stay at Sultanpurldhi .

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is visiting Sultanpurlodhi on Nov 8 to pay obeisance at Gurdwara ber Sahib on the 553rd Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev .
