The total purchase of paddy by the state government and private agencies from farmers crossed 5,16228 lakhs quintals in grain markets under the Bilga market committee on Friday.
Committee secretary Manjit Singh said we are expecting a decline in the purchase of paddy this season and may not achieve the target of 7,08099 lakhs quintals purchased last year. He said this is due to a fall in yield per acre due to various reasons adding that 27.10 percent of purchased paddy has been lifted from grain markets.
