- Various departments made people aware of welfare schemes by putting up stalls
PATIALA: The Campaign” Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach” initiated by National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi was launched in District Patiala on 31st October, 2022 extending for a period of two weeks i.e. from 31st October,2022 to 13th November, 2022 being part of PAN India Campaign for bridging the gap between the institutions and the unprivileged by spreading the legal awareness as well as for providing basic legal assistance to persons confined in the prisons and Child Care Institution to commemorate the 75th year of the Independence by spreading awareness.
Under the able guidance of Tejinder Singh Dhindsa, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court cum Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and Tarsem Mangla, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, a Legal Awareness Camp was held by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala during this campaign in coordination with District Administration, Patiala at Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha Senior Secondary School, Nabha on 3.11.2022.
During this camp, various departments of District Administration Patiala like Health Department, Patiala; Revenue Department Patiala; Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Patiala; Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Minorities, Patiala and Agricultural Department, Patiala had set up their stalls for spreading awareness amongst General Public including Anganwari Workers, Teachers, Students and Staff of the school about different welfare schemes being run by the State Government as well as Central Government for betterment of socially and economically backward sections of the society. A stall was also set up by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala for spreading awareness about the legal assistance being provided to the weaker section of society as well as prisoners confined in jails.
The camp was attended by Kannu Garg, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nabha who was the main organiser of the event on behalf of the District Administration, Patiala. Sushma Devi, CJM/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala was the Chief Guest of the Event. Kannu Garg, SDM, Nabha addressed the gathering and provided information about the various schemes being run by the District Administration, Patiala. Sushma Devi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala also addressed the gathering and made the people aware about the Free Legal Services and NALSA and Punjab Victim Compensation Schemes. About 500 persons attended this camp.
