Arvind Kejriwal on Pollution: Delhi Govt or Punjab govt are not solely responsible, not time for blame game

NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a press conference regarding pollution control and stop stubble burning. Kejriwal has claim ‘Air pollution is a North India problem. AAP, Delhi Govt or Punjab govt are not solely responsible. Now not the time for blame game’.

Arvind Kejriwal on Friday - amid criticism over pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) - said: “We have our government in Punjab and Delhi. But this is not the time for blame games and finger-pointing. It won't help in finding solutions. We can blame them, and they can blame us but that would lead to nothing." Kejriwal was apparently referring to the BJP as he is being question for inaction amid increasing air pollution in the NCR.

In press conference, Kejriwal said that pollution in Delhi has become very high. People are finding it difficult to breathe. This is not only the problem of Delhi but the whole of North India. Apart from Delhi, the air is going very bad in many cities of Haryana and UP. Kejriwal further said that there are many local reasons for this. The village of one state does not stay in one state and moves from here to there. Central government should take steps. He said that this is not the time for politics or abusing. Delhi CM said that if stubble is burning in Punjab, then we ourselves are responsible for it, because our government is there. Delhi CM said that many steps will be taken with the farmers in this matter and its results will be visible by next year.

Kejriwal said – Pollution is not only the problem of Delhi

Kejriwal said that there is no question of pointing fingers at us. We believe that stubble is burning in Punjab. But until the farmer does not get a solution, what will he do? Its not responsible. We take responsibility for this if stubble is burning in Punjab. Hon'ble government has taken many steps. Some got success, some didn't. But now when the company is engaged, a concrete solution will come out by next year. There is no blame game in this. We are responsible for the burning of stubble, we believe that.

The matter reached the Supreme Court

The matter of air pollution in Delhi-NCR has now reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed seeking directions to take necessary steps to reduce pollution. The petition will be heard on November 10. The council said, "The level of AQI has never crossed 500 in the last few years. Even those who are fit are falling ill. In Punjab, there has been a 22 per cent increase in stubble burning, due to which the situation It has become worse. We request the Supreme Court to hear it today or tomorrow as it involves right to life of the people at large."
