SBS Nagar Procured 250180 MT Paddy during the Ongoing Season

Nawanshahar: Special Chief Secretary cum Financial Commissioner Department of Cooperation, Ravneet Kaur disclosed that SBS Nagar District Mandis had procured as many as 250180 MT of Paddy, out of which 207867 MT had been lifted, while a payment of Rs 486.57 lakh had also  been transferred to the accounts of the farmers against the procured paddy.

While taking stock of the Progress of the District  during a virtual  review meeting , today, with Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa and other district officials, she expressed satisfaction over the smooth procurement process. She stressed on the need to curb the fire incidents of crop residue strictly in the larger  interest of a safe environment.

Reviewing the success rate of Aam Aadmi Clinics launched on August 15 this year at Rahon in Nawanshahr, she said that as many as 3164 residents had availed the benefit . Besides , as many as  187 lab Tests were done.

She applauded the medical and paramedical staff for this remarkable figure and asked the Civil Surgeon to explore the possibility of setting up more such  citizen oriented projects.

She further said that district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar had  done a commendable job by completing 96.5 percent rural development works under the Smart Village Campaign. As many as 3473 works were undertaken under this scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 101 crore.

The Special Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of the Roof Top Water Harvesting system being installed in Government schools and Public buildings and directed to explore the possibility of setting up Roof Top Solar Energy projects on government buildings.

Appreciating the efforts of the district to spend maximum funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the district, she said to achieve the target of 30.43 crore against the annual 54 crore is good and we should benefit maximum number of MGNREGA Workers enrolled in the district. She expressed satisfaction over the number of man days generated under MGNREGA so far. The district has generated employment for 7.22 lakh man days so far.

Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa apprised the SCS of the enhanced forest cover on both sides of the Phagwara-Rupnagar National Highway.

The District Administration while presenting a progress report of the Sewa Kendra suggested some changes in physical submission of documents besides bringing uniformity in documentation needed for services throughout the state. She assured to take up the issue with the department of governance reforms.

Special Chief Secretary cum  Financial Commissioner Department of Cooperation, Ravneet Kaur asked the district administration to complete the ongoing development works in a stipulated time period to avoid any delay and to facilitate the residents.

Among the officers present in the virtual meeting of Special Chief Secretary cum Financial Commissioner Cooperation, Ravneet Kaur, included ADC (D) Amardeep Singh Bains, SDMs Major Shivraj Singh Bal and Dr. Poonam Preet Kaur, Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Dhanda, DDPO Davinder Kumar, District Mandi Officer Rupinder Minhas.
