Kapurthala: Procurement of paddy in Kapurthala district has touched almost 85 % of the estimated target during current season .
The target for procurement of paddy in the district was 796120 MT, out of which 656046 MT have been purchased till yesterday, which counts 83.13 % of the target.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that the procurement work is going on smoothly in the district and the paddy in the mandis is being purchased within 12 hours of arrival.
He said that 99 % of the paddy in the mandis has been purchased by state procurement agencies .
A total of 661834 MT of paddy has arrived in the district, of which 656046 MT have been purchased , which becomes 99 %.
Out of this Pungrain has purchased 43 % , Markfed 166823, MT PUNSUP 119778 MT and Punjab State Warehouse Corporation 40210 MT.
Out of the procured paddy, 574804 MT has been lifted which becomes 100.27 % of the lifting , fixed in the time limit of 72 hours.
In terms of payment to the farmers, the performance of the district was also excellent as farmers are being paid before the stipulated time of 48 hours.
As of yesterday, Rs 1249.74 crore has been paid to the farmers against purchased paddy.
