Embassy of India Abu Dhabi begun exercise to help stranded Punjabi workers

The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has begun an excise to help about a hundred Punjabi workers stranded in Abu Dhabi after the Union Foreign Ministry’s direction.

The community affairs wing, Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi in an email message to Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village and a social activist requested him  to share the details of the stranded employees like their passport number, UID No., UAE contact number, contact details of their employer (contact number and email address) to enable us to assist/guide them further.

Dilbag Singh in an email to the community affairs wing, send the contact number and email id of the company.

He said that Square General Contracting Company LLC is a company based out of, Al Dana Tower, Ground Floor Street 32, Al Khalidiya Area, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and other details including it website http://sgcc-uae.com 

Company size:1,001-5,000 employees and Employees at Square General Contracting Company LLC and its

Executive assistant (administration) and other officials’ names.

Dilbag Singh said this company has one camp at 14, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi in which stranded youth live who have expired visas and have no cards to contact their near and dear.

Parents of these youths have received information regarding this present status from their well-wishers living abroad. Dilbag Singh urged the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi to locate this base camp and help stranded youth.

Community Affairs Wing, Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi in an email message on Friday morning thanked Dilbag Singh  for sharing the employer-related information and asked  the workers  to visit/contact the Embassy on Mission’s emergency number (050-8995583) or on its  landline number 02-  4492700, Extn: 4. He said that parents of these youth can also contact PBSK Dubai on its  toll-free number 800 46342 or WhatsApp/ SMS: 00971 54 309 0571.

   It is pertinent to mention here that the Union External Ministry has initiated action to help about a hundred Punjabi workers stranded in Abu Dhabi.

Undersecretary External Affairs Minister’s, Ministry of External Affairs in an email message to section officer Medad directed him to look into the matter regarding the repatriation of 100 workers who are stranded in Abu Dhabi without passports and sent him a representation to Union Minster Dr. S.Jai Shankar by residents of the Punjab State.

The Punjab state residents on Sunday raised the issue of stranded 100 Punjabi workers in Abu Dhabi with the Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. 

Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village and a social activist in a representation to the Foreign Minister said that the passports of these workers are deposited with their company (Square General Contracting Co, Abu Dhabi). This private company forced workers out of their jobs, but their passports were not being returned. Because of this, these workers are not able to come back. He has urged him to direct the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi to take up the issue with the Emirates authorities so that the workers’ passports could be returned to them.
