Two travel agents booked for duping Nakodar villager of Rs 10 lakhs

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar city police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping Nakodar village of Rs 10 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.

The investigating officer (IO) and Station House Officer Bisman Singh Sahi said that the accused have  been identified as Surjit Singh son of Lal Chand a resident of Sindharr village under Lohian Khas police station and Daljit Singh son of Hans Raj  a resident of Aalowal village.

Kulwant Singh a resident of Nangal Jiwan village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 10 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Italy. However, he was neither sent abroad nor returned the money and passport.

 

IO said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
