Document Update Must for Those Residents who have not updated their Aadhaar in the last 10 years

Nawanshahr: Bhawna, Garg, IAS, Deputy Director General (DDG), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) alongwith DC Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa held a review meeting on Aadhaar progress in District Nawanshahr (SBS Nagar) with the District Administration officers on Wednesday.

The DDG emphasized on document update for those residents who have not updated their Aadhaar in the last 10 years. These residents need to validate their Aadhaar by visiting nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center.

The DDG added special Aadhaar enrolment drives could also be carried out in Aanganwari Centres to cover age category 0-5 years.The DDG said for pushing enrolment drive in Aanganwaris, focus needs to be on incentivizing Aanganwaris workers for carrying out the enrolment of children.The DDG also emphasized for pushing enrolment by India Post Payment Banks at immunization camps and Birth units.

Ms Bhawana stressed on completing Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children after they have attained the age of 5 and 15 years is also necessary. The mandatory biometric updation is free of cost. In case biometrics are not by Aadhaar holder updated within 2 years of attaining such age, the Aadhaar may get deactivated.

The DDG also conveyed that adequate efforts were put in place to work with the district administration to carry out necessary inspection of Aadhaar Centres. This will be done to take appropriate action against any fraudulent activities related to the enrolment and updations of Aadhaar.

For any demographic updation such as address, update /correction in Name, Date of Birth, Gender charges are Rs 50 and for biometric update i.e. change in photograph or updating iris or fingerprints in Aadhaar charges are Rs 100.  In case of overcharging, residents can lodge grievances at 1947(Toll-Free).

The DDG said residents can also download mAadhaar on their mobile phones which allows them not only to carry Aadhaar on their mobile phones but also help resident avail many online Aadhaar services. mAadhaar app also allows residentto lock their biometrics in Aadhaar.

It was also stressed by DDG that the resident must check their details carefully while enrolling/updation   for Aadhaar as there is a limit for updating details like name, date of birth and Gender in Aadhaar. While names in Aadhaar can be updated twice, date of birth and gender can be corrected once.
