MC commissioner Phagwara hands over Parichay Boards to street vendors under the Prime Minister Svanidhi scheme

Phagwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) cum Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner, Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal today handed over Parichay Boards under the Prime Minister Svanidhi Scheme.

 

Divulging the details while interacting with the beneficiaries, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that in a much needed succor to street vendors badly hit by COVID-19 pandemic PM SVANidhi Scheme was launched. She said that the street vendors are the most vulnerable segment of the society and they had been hit badly by COVID-19 pandemic. She said that they needed special help to revive their business for which this scheme was launched in Phagwara.

 

The MC Commissioner said that more than 1200 vendors were registered under the scheme in Phagwara. She said that most of them were extended loans of Rs 10,000. She said that now the civic body has issued Parichay Boards to these street vendors under the Prime Minister Svanidhi Scheme as a mark of recognition to facilitate working capital loan up to `10,000, to incentivize regular repayment; and to reward digital transactions.

 

Reiterating the commitment of the Phagwara administration to serve the people of every strata zealously, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the administration and the civic body is committed for the well being of one and all. She further said that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. She also asked the bankers to implement this scheme more zealously to ameliorate the suffering of the needy and underprivileged sections of the society. She said that banks need to play a proactive role in ensuring that more and more people are benefited from this.
