Two travel agents booked for duping woman of Rs 1.74 lakh

 

NURMAHAL

 The Nurmahal police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping a woman of Rs1.74 lakh on the pretext of sending her son abroad.

 The Station House Officer (SHO) Hardev Preet Singh said the accused have been identified as Sahib Singh son of Ajit Singh a resident of Thabalke road Jandiala village under Jamsher Sadar police station and Harpal Singh son of Sukhjit Singh a resident of Kila Darshan Singh, civil lines, Batala in Gurdas Pur.

Baljindar Kaur wife of Sarabjit Singh a resident of Sagar Pur village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that she paid Rs1.74 lakh to the accused for facilitating her son’s migration abroad. However, he was neither sent abroad nor returned the money.

 

SHO said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating)and 120-B (criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act 2014 has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
