Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today displayed the portraits of Nawab Rai Bular Ahmed Bhatti, a devotee of Guru Nanak Dev, struggler Sikh warrior Bhai Balwinder Singh Jatana, former SGPC members Jathedar Joginder Singh Panjrath and Harinder Singh Ranian at the Central Sikh Museum situated in the complex of Sri Darbar Sahib.

The portraits were unveiled during a ceremony by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh and Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Rajdeep Singh in the presence of prominent personalities.

Addressing this occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh said that the Central Sikh Museum is an important source of Sikh history and heritage and Qaumi (community’s) honour is given here to those who make sacrifices for the community by displaying their portraits.

He said Nawab Rai Bular was a true devotee of Guru Nanak Dev, who had identified the divine light in the Guru at a young age and gave him great reverence. Expressing his devotion to the Guru, Rai Bular had offered him a big share of his property.

SGPC President raised objection to the governments that the SGPC had sent several invitations to the descendants of Nawab Rai Bular Bhatti in Pakistan, requesting them to attend the ceremony of installation of his portrait, but they could not attend due to non-grant of visas. The SGPC wanted Bhatti’s descendants to be present on this occasion.

Advising the governments on the issue of Punjab’s waters, Advocate Harjinder Singh said, “It is very important and sensitive issue of Punjab and the governments should not tamper and interfere in it unnecessarily.”

SGPC President also remembered Bhai Jatana’s colleague Bhai Charanjit Singh.

Moreover, SGPC President also called the Panthic services of former SGPC members Jathedar Joginder Singh Panjrath and Harinder Singh Ranian.

During the ceremony, Giani Rajdeep Singh and SGPC member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka said that the community always remembers those who sacrificed for the Panthic cause and played a major role in the preaching of Sikh faith by displaying portraits of such personalities.
