Kapurthala police intensify fight against drugs

  • 209 drug smugglers arrested in less than 3 months besides recovering Rs 18 lakh Drug money 
  • SSP Urges to people to share information on helpline 95929-14519 for drug prevention


Kapurthala: Intensifying the war against drugs , Kapurthala police have arrested 209 drug smugglers in last 3 months, which also includes some big fishes of this dirty business to break the supply chain of drugs. 

 

SSP Navneet Singh Bains said that under the guidance of Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Bhagwant Mann and DGP Mr. Gaurav Yadav, the  action against drug traffickers has been speeded up besides cutting the supply chain by conducting regular “ search operations “ by higher officials in the areas most affected by the scourge of drugs.

He said that not only drug suppliers have been busted but awareness campaign is also being conducted for the rehabilitation of drug victims.  Apart from this, seminars are being conducted in schools to inform school students about the ill effects of drugs.

It is to be mentioned that during the last 3 months, 5 kg 487 grams of heroin, 3 kg 550 grams of opium, more than 100 kg of poppy husk , 5 kg of ganja and around 62000 drug pills have been recovered by the police.

Apart from this, not only drug money worth Rs. 18.42 lakh rupees has been seized but also 147 grams of gold and 237 grams of silver have been recovered.  38 vehicles from drug smugglers, including 31 two-wheelers, 5 cars have been made case properties related to drugs . 

Bains said intelligence network on ground level has been strengthen besides using technical means to track the drug peddler’s has given fruitful results . 

He appealed to the people to share information on Kapurthala Police helpline 95929-14519 for drug prevention as the identity of the informer will remain confidential.

He also urged the youth to come forward to serve the country by taking free professional training under 'Mission Khaki' for recruitment in Punjab Police jobs.
