Administration identifies 157 villages as hot spots for stubble burning

Kapurthala: With an aim to save the environment besides soil health, Deputy commissioner Vishesh sarangal said that the district administration has identified 157 villages as hot spots for stubble burning out of nearly 700 villages in the district . 

 

It may be mentioned here that during last season , 75 % firing incident was reported in these villages . 

 

Addressing the officials in a meeting regarding stubble burning , Deputy commissioner asked the officers to perform their duty with utmost care to avoid stubble burning as erring officials to face the strict departmental action besides making adverse entries in their ACRs. 

 

DC also asked the officials to visit the fire incidents within 24 hours of reporting and submit reports on that regard immediately after the visit . 

 

Besides that a special campaign has been launched by the district administration in governments schools as students were informed about the ill effects of stubble burning so that they can pursue their parents to avoid firing the fields . 

 

It may be mentioned here that to prevent paddy stubble burning in the district,  208 nodal officers and 39 cluster officers have been deployed in the field. 

 

District Education Officer has been instructed to mobilize school students, conduct

activities which can educate them about the ill-effects of burning stubble and in return

the students educate their family members and relatives about managing stubble and

about ill-effects of burning stubble.

 

Deputy commissioner also urged the farmers to avoid the stubble burning to play an active role to save the environment as it was also harmful for the soil health . 

 

On this occasion ADC (General) Ajay Arora, ADC (D) S.P.  Angra, ADC Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal , SDM Lal Vishwas Bains and Randeep Singh besides officials of various departments were present.
