(SUBHEAD) Barnala: The Election Commission of India will keep a close watch on the election expenses of the candidates contesting the Punjab Assembly Election-2022. A candidate will be able to spend a maximum of Rs 40 lakh on his campaign, earlier the spending limit was Rs 30.80 lakh, which has now been increased. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional District Electoral Officer Varjit Walia in which representatives of various political parties participated and assured cooperation to the district administration.
